"I am a combat veteran of the United States Navy, serving a tour in support of both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. During my four years in the service, I led a crew of six, performing maintenance on navy aircraft. I earned the prestigious Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal. Transitioning from a military to civilian career was tough. I've found that Michelin values their veterans, acknowledging our achievements and ensuring their voice is heard. I have refined my leadership skills through the years. I am more bold while leading with compassion. I love what I do. I get to wear a hard hat and steel-toed boots, interacting with customers as I inspect yellow iron and drive around quarries. I was born for this job!"
Latonia Rami QAM/GQM/Quality Project Manager for Quality Digital Activities, Norwood, N.C.
"I have been hearing impaired since childhood. When I joined Michelin in Ardmore, Okla. in 2006, I was one of a few women on the manufacturing shop floor. Michelin has always viewed my differing ability as a strength and ensured I had the proper equipment needed to thrive. Five years ago, I transferred to Norwood, N.C. where I've had the opportunity to lead the African American Industry Steering Committee and serve on the Community Investment Committee. Michelin does what it takes to create an equitable working environment. During last year's pandemic, they provided employees clear masks to allow for better communications with hearing impaired co-workers. It's this respect for people that stands out and inspires me in my interaction with others."
