Janet Yellen becomes the First Secretary of Treasury
Economist Janet Yellen has been confirmed as the United States' Secretary of Treasury, making her the first woman to ever hold the position. She previously worked with the Federal Reserve in multiple differing leadership roles and taught at U.C. Berkeley's Haas School of Business. Yellen was also the chair of the Council of Economic Advisors under President Bill Clinton and the vice-chair under former President Barack Obama. Her work has additionally made her the irst person to lead the Treasury Department, Federal Reserve and the White House Council of Economic Advisors.

Becky Hammon becomes the First Female NBA Head Coach
Former WNBA basketball player and Spurs' Assistant Coach Becky Hammon made history this past December when she became the active head coach for an NBA game regular season game. She assumed the position after the resignation of assistant head coach, Tim Duncan. You don't think twice about it, Spurs player, DeMar DeRozan told ESPN, She's one of us. When she speaks, we are all ears.

Super Bowl to have its First Female Officiate
This year's Super Bowl LV achieved a historic first when Sarah ThomasbecamethefirstfemaletoiciatetheSuperBowl. She worked as a down judge under referee Carl Cheffers. This achievement will further expand on her other historic moment in 2015 when her inclusion in the NFL made her the first wom- anon-fieldicialfortheorganization.

Dr. Kathryn Sullivan
In 1984, Kathryn Sullivan became known as the first woman to walk in space, but now she has a very different achievement to accompany her suc- cess. In the summer of 2020, Sullivan traveled seven miles underwater to the lowest point of the ocean, the first woman and the second person to ever make the journey. Now, at 69-years-old, Sullivan encourages exploration in all of its facets in the name of adventure and science, hoping to foster diversity among women in the STEM field.
